Holistic approach for multiple disabilities

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A seminar on ‘The effect of holistic approach to bring out a positive transformation in children with special needs’ is being organised by Aruna Chetana, a charitable institution rendering service to children with multiple disabilities, on March 14.

Eminent persons in the field of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, acupressure, music, art and dance therapy will present papers at the seminar.

Therapy

The institution is working on the effects of aculaser therapy and acupressure (Laser Scalp Acupuncture and Pulsating Magnetic Field Therapy) in children suffering from multiple disabilities such as mental retardation, hearing impairment, speech impairment and cerebral palsy. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the principal of the institution, Usha Jahgirdar, said the institution had been researching on the subject for the past six months.

“The research has concluded now and the interim report has been presented to the Jindal Naturopathy Institution. We plan to submit the report to Harvard University, USA, as ours is the first institution to take up this project,” she said.

Pointing out that the institution would also train people in acupressure and aculaser therapy, Ms. Jahgirdar said: “We are keen to spread this system of holistic approach to the betterment of all special children because of the positive results.”

The seminar, to be held on the premises of Canara Union, Malleswaram, 8th Main, is open to interested persons. For details, call 23312908.
