Concentrate on studies, students told

HARUR: Opportunity helps bring out inherent talents of the students and the public. Those who showcase their talents would succeed in life, Collector P. Amutha has said.

Presiding over the Women’s Day function at the N.N. Marriage Mahal here on Thursday, she said that she decided to become an IAS officer and sere the poor at the age of 13.

And, passed the examination at the age of 23. One has to dream to reach the sky and should try to make those dreams into reality.

Students should concentrate on their studies. Unlettered people in this area should try to read and write. “Coming to know of good things around us will help lead a healthy and disciplined life,” she said.

The Collector distributed napkin vending machine to Harur Government Girls Hostel, Maduthipatti Government Girls Hostel and Harur Backward Class Girls Hostel.

During the function, participants took a 10-point pledge at the venue. Later, she inaugurated a rally to mark the International Women’s Day.

Superintendent of Police R. Sudhakar, District Revenue Officer R. Maheshwari and Additional Superintendent of Police Sundararajan spoke. Sun Eyetex Firms Managing Director Nandalala and Commercial Tax Officer, Madurai, Tamilselvi participated as special guests and gave lectures.

Harur Revenue Divisional Officer S. Kannan welcomed the gathering. Tahsildhar Rathinasamy proposed a vote of thanks.
