Safety Week celebrations

TIRUCHI: Competitions for workers, special lectures, cultural programmes marked the Safety Week celebrations at the Railway Central Workshop, Ponamalai. The National Safety Day is being celebrated to commemorate the formation of National Safety Council way back in 1971.

Joint Chief Inspector of Factories S. Rethinam was the chief guest at the valediction held at the workshop on Thursday. He spoke at length on industrial safety and gave away prizes to the winners of the various competitions.

Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer P. V. Kothaiyah presided over the function. Works Managers S. Varadharajan and M. Chandrasekaran spoke on safety aspects. The workers were informed that safety instructions have been introduced in all sections of the workshop.
