Affiliation for Academy to conduct hospitality programme

TIRUCHI: The National Council for Hotel Management, an autonomous body functioning under Central Ministry of Tourism, has granted affiliation to Jenneys Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management to conduct three year B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration programme from 2009-2010.
According to Academy’s Director - Technical M. Ponnilango, Jenneys is the only institute affiliated with the National Council in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. The Council regulates hospitality and hotel administration programmes imparted at premier institutes in the country.
The B.Sc. programme, Mr. Ponnilango said, is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The IGNOU awards the degrees.
The quality of education and training provided at the institutes affiliated to the council helps students to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors.
As many as 40,000 students have been trained by the council till date and alumni occupy key positions in the hotel industry and in academic institutes both in India and abroad. The minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the Plus Two system or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subject. Admissions will be based on the marks obtained by candidates in the Joint Entrance Examination slated for May 9, 2009 at various centres across the country.
