No loss if IPL is postponed, says Karunanidhi
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi said on Thursday that there would be no loss to anyone if the Indian Premier League matches were postponed by a month.
Answering a question, he said that it was not merely the lives of world-famous cricketers that needed to be protected; the lives of the lakhs of spectators also needed to be protected.
The Lok Sabha elections were scheduled at the same time.
Though Home Minister P.Chidambaram has stated that the IPL matches could go ahead after taking permission from Directors General of Police of each State, it was not advisable to go ahead with the matches when there was a general threat to the country. There was no point in repenting after an incident, he warned.
