PUDUCHERRY: The University Grants Commission (UGC) sponsored programmes were inaugurated at Bharathidasan Government College for Women on Friday. According to a press release, programmes such as National Eligibility Test, remedial coaching classes and entry into service for SC/ST and minority communities were launched at the college. Director of Higher and Technical Education Jayanthakumar Ray inaugurated the schemes on the occasion. The National Eligibility Test programme prepares the students to appear for the test and provides an opportunity to take up research or join service. The remedial coaching classes were for students who had failed in their examinations from semester I to V. The classes enable the students to complete their degree courses, while the entry into services scheme prepares the students to appear for recruitment tests conducted by the government and other authorities added the release. Among others, Principal of the college G. Babu Rao, Dean of College Development Council of Pondicherry University R. Venguttaraman and faculty of the institution were present on the occasion, the release said.
