Conservator launches plantation drive

SALEM: The Salem Sub Regional Office of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has taken up a sapling plantation drive here on Saturday as a part of the 57th ESIC Day celebrations.

Conservator of Forests V. Palani, launching the drive, called upon the people, officials, workers and various organisations to work together to increase the green cover in the district.

Fifty-seven saplings were planted during the programme organised in association with the Salem Tree Club. The Corporation had already organised a number of programmes including a special medical camp. Over 370 labourers and their family members were screened during the camp. Specialists from ESI hospital and a few private hospitals conducted the camp.The Corporation also organised ESIC day celebrations in Karur and Kumbakonam recently.

Joint Director, ESIC, Sub Regional Office, S. Vasudevan; Assistant Director M. Koodalingam; Club president S. Krishnamurthy; and senior officials were present during the programme.
