Family members vie for Narasapur

Staff Reporter

CPI has stronghold in the constituency

Vithal Reddy’s son Kishan Reddy wants to contest

But Vithal Reddy supports daughter’s nomination

SANGAREDDY: Even before the formal allocation of tickets by the grand alliance, the district unit of the CPI is facing problem in Narasapur Assembly constituency, which it wants to contest.

Narasapur Assembly constituency is the only seat in Medak district where the CPI has a stronghold. Ch. Vithal Reddy of the CPI has represented the seat for five terms. However, differences among the family members have led to confusion among the cadres.

Kishan Reddy, son of Mr. Vithal Reddy, earlier re-joined the party quitting the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with the sole intention of contesting the elections. However, Mr. Vithal Reddy is supporting his daughter Kavitha Reddy instead of Mr. Kishan Reddy. Mr. Vithal Reddy also made a representation to the CPI State leadership seeking ticket for his daughter.

In the past, in Hatnoora Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency elections, Mr. Kishan Reddy pitted his wife Suhasini Reddy against his sister Kavitha Reddy thereby widening the differences.

Other aspirants

Vexed with the family struggle, some other party activists are also trying their luck and have forwarded their applications. While admitting differences among the family members of Mr. Vithal Reddy, CPI district secretary V. Prakash Rao said: “The party has not yet decided whom to give ticket. The district committee will discuss the proposals and forward applications after scrutiny.

A final decision will be taken by the State committee.”
