Sizable increase in electorate

Women are more than men voters in all six segments

THENI: Theni Parliamentary constituency, which wiped out Periakulam constituency after delimitation of Assembly constituencies, has 10,64,050 voters including 5,28,091 men and 5,35,959 women, up by 1,65,014 voters, approximately 18.35 per cent, when compared to 2004 Parliamentary roll. (Total electorate in 2004 roll was 8,99,036.).

Women are more than the men voters in all the six segments of the constituency.

The number of constituencies in the district has been slashed down to four instead of five.

Theni Assembly segment was vanished from the election map of the State. Sholavandhan and Usilampatti in Madurai district were included in Theni Parliamentary constituency.

Voters in Andipatti constituency are 1,77,448 of whom 87,824 were men and 89,624 women. Periyakulam has 1,74,264 voters, including 86,418 men and 87,846 women. The Bodinayakkanur Assembly segment has 1,81,718 voters of whom 90,389 were men and 91,329 women. Similarly, total voters in Cumbum are 1,81,470 including 89,591men and 91,879 women.

In Sholavandhan, total voters are 1,59,218 of which 79,357 are men and 79,861 women. Usilampatti has 1,89,932 voters including 94,512 men and 95,420 women voters.

Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC) had been given to 6.86 voters in the district. Rest of 28,900 voters will get the EPIC shortly. A total of 79,124 voters were included in the final electoral roll.

Of the six Assembly segments of Theni constituency, four segments – Theni, Andipatti, Cumbum and Bodi – are in Theni district and Sholavandhan and Usilimapatti in Madurai district.
