KPCC demands withdrawal of CDs

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has demanded withdrawal of the two compact discs (CDs) brought out by the Education Department for Class 7 students, as they contained derogatory references against religious heads and the Christian community.

In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Chennithala said it was difficult to believe that such references were included accidentally in the context of the persistent attacks against minority communities during the last three years that the LDF had been in power. However, this was continuing despite protests from various sections, giving rise to the suspicion that the CPI(M) was implementing a ‘secret agenda.’ Mr. Chennithala alleged that the Education Minister, the Kerala State Teachers’ Association and the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad were behind these attempts.
