Villagers boycott festival

CUDDALORE: Voicing concern over the continuing atrocities against the Sri Lankan Tamils the residents of at least 20 villages in Cuddalore district boycotted the Masi Maham festivities on Monday.

The temples in villages such as Alapakkam, Keezh Poovanikuppam, Mel Poovanikuppam, Ambedkar Nagar, Mullai Nagar, Karaimedu, Pethanguppam and Karaimedu abstained from the Masi Maham fete.

At Alapakkam black flags were hoisted on roof tops. — Special Correspondent
