DVAC raids MTC MD’s office

CHENNAI: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption conducted a surprise check on the office of the Managing Director, Metropolitan Transport Corporation, here on Monday and seized Rs.6.19 lakh.

According to DVAC sources, the cash was seized from the official car, drawers and Personal Assistant of the MD, M. Rama Subramanian. Based on information that the official was taking bribe from contractors during working hours, a special team led by Deputy Superintendents of Police M.B.N. Natarajan and S. Thirunavukkarasu conducted the surprise check that lasted about three hours.

“We have seized Rs.6.19 lakh during the search. He (Rama Subramanian) also has about Rs.3 lakh in his bank account. Officials of the District Inspection Cell were present during the operation,” Mr. Thirunavukkarasu said adding that investigation was on to ascertain the source of the money seized.
