Promote peace and harmony: Barnala

CHENNAI: Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday greeted the people on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed.

In a release, Mr. Barnala said: “We should pledge to promote his ideals and contribute our mite to propagating peace, unity and harmony. Let this solemn occasion rekindle the spirit of compassion, love and humaneness among us and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.”

Mr. Karunanidhi said the birthday of Prophet Mohammed signified the teachings of love towards fellow beings.

Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss said Prophet Mohammed had preached peace and love.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangakabalu said people should sink the differences based on caste, religion and race for promoting harmony.
