BJP giving just one seat, instead of two: JD(U) Warns of going it alone if talks fail again ALAPPUZHA: Seat-sharing talks between the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State have failed to break the ice, said JD(U) State general secretary P.J. Kurian here on Monday. Pointing out that the JD(U) was adopting the same stance here as it had in Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand on the coming Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Kurian said the talks held with BJP State president P.K. Krishnadas were stalled over the BJP’s stance that it would give the JD(U) just one seat instead of the two it had asked for the Lok Sabha polls. Demands“The BJP is trying to give us seats where neither the BJP nor the JD(U) has any significant influence. Our stance is that if we have to contest on the NDA [National Democratic Alliance] platform, we will have to be given the Alappuzha and Thrissur seats,” Mr. Kurian said. He added that if the talks planned later this week failed to yield any results, the JD(U) would contest on its own from Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Chalakudy, Thrissur and Kozhikode.
