The three short films that have kicked up a controversy after these were reportedly brought out by the Education Department are not meant to offend any section of the people, according to Mr. Deepesh, director of the films. Mr. Deepesh said at a press meeting here on Monday that the controversy over the alleged screening of the films was unnecessary. He said that the Education Department had been given only the film ‘Save.’ The films ‘Typewriter’ and ‘Murivu’ were not part of the CDs presented to the Education Department, he said adding that some people had been launching propaganda against the last two films alleging that these were obscene. He said that ‘Typewriter’ had received six State awards. ‘Murivu,’ made two years ago, presented contemporary problems in society. He said that the short films were the collective initiatives of some youths in the district.
