MUMBAI: A leading Norwegian bank — DnB NOR — on Tuesday opened a representative office here in a formal ceremony attended by the country’s Ambassador to India, Ann Ollestad.

The bank focussed on sectors like shipping, energy and seafood and the Mumbai office would primarily serve clients from these sectors in India besides other Norwegian companies operating in India, DnB NOR’s President and CEO Rune Bjerke said.

The bank offered a large number of products for its customers engaged in industries like shipping and would develop some new products as well, Mr. Bjerke said. The bank had strong links with Indian ship owning community and served Indian companies in shipping, offshore, logistics and energy, he added.

The Mumbai office will complement the bank’s Singapore and Shanghai operations. — PTI
