Amar: secular government impossible without Sonia

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday said it could leave some more seats to the Congress and no secular government could be formed without United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

“Our alliance with the Congress could not take the shape as desired by Mulayam Singh and Ms. Gandhi... we are giving them 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh and they are seeking 25 seats. The Congress came out with their list of candidates for 24 constituencies, which include around 10 of our sitting seats. Despite this, we have left six seats for them, and who knows in future we can leave some more seats for them,” SP general secretary Amar Singh told reporters here. “This would be done without any compromise or any favour because we have no ideological clash with the Congress. We still say that without Ms. Gandhi no secular government can be formed,” he said. — PTI
