Quick passage of women’s bill sought

Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI: The Confederation of Tirunelveli District Women’s Organisations has demanded that the Bill ensuring 33 per cent reservation to women in education and employment be enacted without further delay.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the confederation’s meeting here on Wednesday.

Another resolution said special police teams should be deployed in public places to prevent harassments against women and total prohibition in Tamil Nadu.

Cases on harassment and torture of women and children should be tried in the courts expeditiously.

Farm workers, beedi rollers, labourers of unorganised sectors should be given complete social security, the meeting demanded.
