Nemmara has highest electorate in Alathur constituency

Ottappalam constituency ceases to exist after delimitation


Tharoor segment reserved for Scheduled Castes

1,63,737 voters in Nemmara segment


PALAKKAD: With delimitation, the Ottappalam Lok Sabha Constituency has ceased to exist and Alathur has come in its place.

The reservation of Scheduled Castes continues from the old to the new constituency.

The Alathur constituency consists of seven Assembly segments — Tharoor (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Chittur, Nemmara and Alathur of Palakkad district and Chelakkara, Kunnamkulam and Wadakkancherry of Thrissur district.

Ottappalam had the Assembly segments of Thrithala, Pattambi, Ottappalam, Kuzhalmannam, Chelakkara (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Wadakkancherry and Kunnamkulam. Of this, Thrithala of Palakkad district has now become part of the Ponnani Lok Sabha Constituency.

In the Alathur Lok Sabha Constituency, the Nemmara Assembly segment has the highest number of voters. The total number of electorate is 1,63,737, of which 82,729 are women.

The following are the local bodies that come under each Assembly segment:

Tharoor: Kannampara, Kavisseri, Kotai, Kuthanur, Peringottukurissi, Puthukode, Tarur and Vadakumnchery.

Chittur: Chittur-Thatamangalam municipality and the panchayats of Eruthiampathy, Kozhijampara, Nalleppilly, Pattamcherry, Perumatty, Vadakarapathy, Peruvembu and Polpully.

Nemmara: Elavancherry, Koduvayur, Kollengode, Muthalamada, Nelliampathy, Nemmara, Pallasana, Ayilur, Pudunagaram and Vadavannur.

Alathur: Alathur, Erimayur, Kizhakkencherry, Kuzhalmannam, Melarcode, Thenkurissy and Vandazhi.

Chelakkara: Chelakkara, Deshamangalam, Kondazhi, Mullakkara, Panjal, Pazhayannur, Thiruwilamala, Vallathol Nagar and Varavoor.

Kunnamkulam: Kunnamkulam municipality and the panchayats of Chovanoor, Erumapetty, Kadangode, Kadavaloor, Kattakampal, Porkulam, Veloor.

Wadakkancherry: Adat, Avanoor, Kaiparambu, Kolazhi, Mulamkunnathukavu, Tholur, Mundathicode, Vadakkancherry, Thekkumkara.
