Gadar’s plea to poll official
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Popular balladeer Gadar has requested the Election Commission to relax the model code to facilitate release of prisoners languishing in various jails of the State, in line with Government Order 196.
In a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao here on Thursday, he said that in tune with a decision taken by the Government long ago, the jail authorities had identified nearly 800 prisoners as eligible for remission of the sentence and release. A list of the names was prepared accordingly.
Gadar said hundreds of families were anxiously awaiting the release of these prisoners.
If the code was applied, the release of these prisoners would be delayed, he said.
