CHENNAI: With the IPL season round the corner, Vijay TV is set to start a hunt for the junior team of Chennai Super Kings. ‘Pepsodent Chennai Super Kings Junior’ show, launched recently, is telecast every Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m.

It will span more than 20 episodes, and the initial episodes will feature the first set of trials that took place in Tiruchi and Coimbatore. More than 1,000 participants exhibited their talents. One team each from Tiruchi and Coimbatore, comprising prospective batsmen and bowlers, were chosen.

The selection for the Chennai team will be held at St. Bede’s Grounds, Mylapore, from 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Boys applying for the trials should be accompanied by their parents and bring along their certificates for age proof. Entry is restricted to the first 1,500 registrations. At each trail, the kids will be tested in their basic skills of the game and cricket trivia. Their cricketing skills will be judged by a group of professionals. Three teams will be chosen from Chennai, and the selected team from the three cities will battle it out in the final set of matches.
