CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has appointed a committee, consisting of a retired High Court Judge and a retired District Judge and the Principal of Pachaiyappa’s College, to hold the elections to the Board of Trustees of Pachaiyappa’s Charities.

Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla passed the order on applications filed by the Administrator General and Official Trustee of the trust seeking appropriate directions for holding the elections.

Mr. Justice Kalifulla said Mr. Justice P. Thangavel, retired Judge of the Madras High Court, and A. Ahamedulla, retired District Judge, were appointed for holding the elections in accordance with the Scheme Decree governing the charities. After declaration of results, the committee would submit a report to the Administrator-General.

The exercise should be completed within two months. Mr. Justice Thangavel would be committee chairman.

The court left it to the discretion of the committee the fixing of date for the elections as the panel had to carry out other formalities.
