Opposition to Revu Naik Belamagi’s candidacy ‘Field Lambani leader from Chitradurga’ DAVANGERE: The Banjarara Seva Samaj has demanded that political parties field Lambani candidates in at least three of the five reserved constituencies in the State for the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, B.T. Vishwanath, president of the Davangere Banjarara Seva Sangha, said there were over 50 lakh Lambani voters across the State and regretted that the Lambani people had been neglected by political parties all these years. Mr. Vishwanath said there were reports that Minister Revu Naik Belamagi would be fielded in the coming elections. The samaj was not in favour of his candidature. He clarified that the samaj was not against his continuance in politics, but urged the Bharatiya Janata Party not to nominate him to contest the Lok Sabha polls. Someone else from the community should be allowed to contest the parliamentary elections, he said and demanded that Lambani leaders be selected to contest from the Chitradurga Lok Sabha constituency too as there were a large number of Lambani people there. MeetingAsked whether the samaj would support the party that fielded the most number of Lambani candidates, Mr. Vishwanath said it would hold a meeting after the parties finalised their candidates and take a decision accordingly.
