Poll: standing committee set up

THENI: A standing committee under chairmanship of the Collector has been constituted here on Friday to conduct free and fair polls and assist all political parties in following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission. In a release Collector P. Muthuveeran said the committee has 12 members including two district-level officers – district revenue officer and superintendent of police – and 10 representatives of political parties such as BJP, BSP, CPI, CPIM, INC, Thesivadha Congress, AIADMK, DMK, MDMK and PMK. This committee will meet at regular intervals during election time to discuss ways to follow election guidelines.
