Subash Chanderji disappointed
HYDERABAD: The announcement of BJP candidates for various city constituencies has left some ticket aspirants fuming.
Prominent among the disappointed lot was the former Deputy Mayor Subash Chanderji. His long nurtured aspiration of making it to the Assembly from Malakpet constituency was strangled by his party at the candidature stage itself as it chose to field G.R. Karunakar.
As the news broke out, Mr. Chanderji could not contain the distress in his tone. “I just came to know that I am not being fielded by the party through media,” he said. Efforts were made to contact the senior leaders on the decision and he plans to sleep over the development and consider the consequences tomorrow morning.
“Let me think about it,” he quipped.
When appointed by the party as incharge of Malakpet Assembly constituency four months back, the former Deputy Mayor was excited and felt one step closer to his goal of making it to the Legislative Assembly.
The impression at that time was those being made incharge of a constituency would be fielded at the time of elections from the place. “The nomination was a commitment. Most others who were made incharge of different constituencies have been nominated but surprisingly not me,” Mr. Chanderji said.
