SP’s Ranjana Bajpai joins BSP

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party women’s wing president Ranjana Bajpai on Saturday joined the Bahujan Samaj Party and was named coordinator of Sitapur, Mohanlalganj (Reserved), Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Misrikh, Allahabad and Fatehpur constituencies in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

She was inducted in the party by president of the BSP’s State unit Swami Prasad Maurya.

Ms. Bajpai, who is the daughter-in-law of the former Union Minister, Rajendra Kumari Bajpai, left the SP after she was replaced by another candidate in Sitapur. Her husband Ashok Bajpai is contesting the elections from Allahabad on BSP ticket.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Maurya attacked the Samajwadi Party for promoting dynastic rule and alleged that the SP president was dancing to the tunes of a few industrialists and film actors. Mr. Maurya said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati would be the next Prime Minister with the support of the ‘sarv samaj’ (entire society).

Ms. Bajpai started her political career in the Congress and later joined the Samajwadi Party.
