Bopanna moves ahead

NEW DELHI: Rohan Bopanna defeated wild card Faris Akhazzan of Britain 6-3, 6-2 to move into the second qualifying round of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Bangkok on Saturday.

Bopanna will meet another wild card Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in the next round.

Meanwhile, Somdev Devvarman has been seeded eighth and drawn to meet Martin Slanar of Austria in the first round of the main draw.

Prakash Amritraj is the other Indian to figure in the singles main draw and will meet Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France.
