TRS president announces that either he or Vijayashanti will contest from Medak Party leaders feel KCR will boost the chances of party candidates in the district SANGAREDDY: Even before official announcement from the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on the candidature of party secretary general Vijayashanti from Medak Lok Sabha seat in the coming general elections, the opposition to her started from within the party, leave alone partners of the Grand Alliance. Few days back, TRS president Chandrasekhar Rao announced at Hyderbad that either he or Vijayashanti would contest from Medak. Within 48 hours after that, the TRS district committee met here on Friday and passed a resolution urging Mr. Rao to contest. Those who passed the resolution include party district president M. Raghunandana Rao, MLA S. Ramalinga Reddy and spokesperson P. Narahari Reddy in addition to others. Best betAccording to some TRS leaders, the resolution was passed with an intention to rope in Mr. Rao to contest from here, which will boost the chances of the party candidates in the entire district in the triangular contest. They feel that compared to Ms. Vijayashanti, the party president is the best bet. “We are not opposing the candidature of Vijayashanti or any others decided by the party. Instead we are requesting Mr. Rao to be in the race from the district so that it will have a positive impact on the entire district and a privilege to the party as he belongs to the district,” TRS district president Rahgunandana Rao clarified to The Hindu.
