People watch as labourers go about their work near Maharani’s College, where an underpass will come up, on Saturday. Bangalore: Work on the underpass using pre-cast elements at the junction of Palace Road and Seshadri Road near Maharani’s College commenced on Friday midnight. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is constructing the underpass at a cost of about Rs. 4 crore, and the work is expected to be completed in a month. However, the installation of pre-cast elements at the junction is expected to be completed in a week. Construction of underpass will enable two-way signal-free vehicular movement on Palace Road between State Bank of Mysore circle and Basaveshwara circle. The city police have prohibited movement of vehicles towards the Maharani College circle from Mysore Bank Circle, Seshadri Road and from Palace Road (from CoD Headquarters). It has also banned movement of vehicles from Kanakadasa Circle to Jail Junction and from Kanakadasa Cricle to Palace Road junction. Motorists going towards City Civil Court from K.R. Ramachandra Road, Palace Road, Old Post Office Road and K.R. Circle. Other vehicles can take a left turn on the flyover and take the Racecourse Road.
