Bescom sets example

BANGALORE: Leading by example, Bescom has taken up a project to reduce power consumption at its corporate office here by about 20 per cent through energy efficiency.

This is expected to reduce the monthly power bill of the corporate office by at least Rs. 25,000. According to Demand Side Management Centre convener B.N. Sathyaprema Kumar, energy-efficient gadgets and lighting system will cost Rs. 11 lakh, but it can be recovered within two-and-a- half years.

The corporate office now used up 23,000 units of power a month worth around Rs. 1.40 lakh.
