Kumbabishekam performed

Special Correspondent

MAYILADUTURAI: A large number of devotees on Sunday witnessed the Mahakumbabishekam of Ayyanar Temple and five other shrines — Veeran, Vinayaka, Pampuliamman, Mariamman and Pidariamman — performed at Arivalur near Elandangudi on the Mayiladuturai-Tiruvarur road in Nagapattinam district

Earlier, holy water kept in the Yagasala pujas performed in the last three days by vedic scholars was poured on the vimanas of Ayyanar temple and other shrines.

The Ayyanar temple, including its ‘arthamandapam,’ was renovated after a gap of several decades at a total cost of nearly Rs.10 lakh.
