Amritsar: A tussle is apparently on between Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s relatives for the Khadoor Sahib seat even though the SAD candidate has already been announced for it, sources close to the family said. The Chief Minister’s daughter Preneet Kaur Kairon and Manjha MLA Bikram Singh Majithia -- Sukhbir Singh Badal’s brother-in-law -- are both hopeful of getting the SAD ticket for Khadoor Sahib. Though the SAD has already announced Rattan Singh Ajnala as their candidate, Ms. Kairon and Mr. Majithia are hopeful as Mr. Ajnala is being considered a weak candidate, Kairon family sources said. Ms. Preneet Kaur’s is the wife of Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, the State Food and Civil Supplies minister. His father Surinder Singh Kairon was twice the Congress MP from Tarn Taran Lok Sabha seat, which has been renamed Khadoor Sahib. Mr. Adesh Pratap’s grandfather, late Partap Singh Kairon, was the former Chief Minister of Punjab. The clout of the Kairon family is considered to be Mr. Kairon’s strength. Mr. Majithia had resigned from the State cabinet to vacate the berth for Sukhbir Singh Badal who was inducted as Deputy Chief Minister. –PTI
