Kozhikode: A special squad of the police has been carrying out searches in various parts of the district, particularly in the rural areas of Vadakara taluk, for those behind the series of violent incidents involving workers of the BJP and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the Pannur region of Kannur district recently. Three persons were killed in the incidents. The police are yet to make any arrests. The team conducted searches at Balussery and Atholi . The squad, along with paramilitary forces, had checked Valayam and Nadapuram. The police suspect the culprits to have crossed Kannur. The police intensified the searches following the recovery of 34 bombs during raids at Pannur on Wednesday. Nearly 84 bombs, including 45 steel bombs, were seized from the area in the past three days.
