Makeshift pandals being erected at Mithila stadium, the venue of the Sitarama kalyanam in Bhadrachalam. BHADRACHALAM: Sriramanavami festival will be celebrated at Bhadradri on April 4 instead of April 3. The temple priests decided the date in accordance with the ‘Pancharatragama’ mode of worship, according to the executive officer of the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Devastanams, K. Ramachandra Mohan. Quoting the archakas of the Devasthanams on Thursday, he said that ‘Sri Sitarama Kalyanam’ should not be performed on April 3 as ‘Ashtami’ lasts beyond sunrise in the day. The ‘Navami’ festival should be observed only on the following day, April 4. The decision of the archakas was final. Neither the endowments officials nor the courts would have any say in such matters, he said. The Government was informed of the decision taken by the priests. Will CM attend? Will the Chief Minister attend the Sitarama kalyanam at Bhadradri on April 4? Officials said here on Thursday that his participation was uncertain as the model code of conduct was in force. “We cannot say anything about this until the government issued an order communicating it to the Departments concerned, they said. The arrangements are on as usually. Over one lakh devotees are expected to throng the temple town for the occasion. Make shift pandals were erected using bamboo mats in an area of one lakh square feet providing shade to the devotees near the Midhila Stadiuam – the venue of the festival. Another 70,000 square feet of area would be prepared for the night stay of the devotees who would come from far off places. Temporary toilets and drinking water taps were being arranged in a big way. Sanitation would also be paid special attention by engaging additional workers.
