Voters number may touch 20 lakh

18 lakh voters in Sangareddy to be given EPIC cards

SANGAREDDY: District Collector Peeyush Kumar on Friday said that as of now, the voters in the district are around 19.49 lakh and it may reach to 20 lakh by March 22 as there was still time to enrol.

Speaking to reporters after formally inaugurating the media centre at THE Collectorate, Mr. Peeyush Kumar said that EPIC cards were ready and already about 12 lakh cards had been distributed.

Employees were entrusted the job of handing over the cards to voters at their residences.

About 18 lakh EPIC cards would be distributed in the district and the remaining voters could use their voting right by producing any one of the ID cards as prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Referring to the employees’ votes, Mr. Peeyush Kumar said that arrangements were in place to make them use postal ballots and the presiding officers were given due instructions in that aspect.

Around 25,000 employees in the district would on election duty on the polling day.

Returning Officers

P. Bhaktar, project officer of Rajiv Vidya Mission, has been posted as Returning Officer (RO) to Siddipet while Siddipet RDO Hanumantha Rao has been posted as RO to Dubbak.

Forest Settlement Officer Muthyma Reddy has been posted as RO to Gajwel. Newly appointed Sangareddy RDO Ramachandra Rao has bee appointed RO to Sangareddy Assembly constituency.
