Judges Colony: association warned over cost escalation
Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice, P.D. Dinakaran, and Justice V.G. Sabhahit on Friday warned the HSR Sector II Residents’ Welfare Association that they would have to compensate the Bangalore Development Authority and the contractor for any cost escalation of the construction of Judges Colony at HSR Layout.
The Bench pointed out that the State Government and the BDA had said that there was nothing illegal in the allotment of land by the BDA for constructing quarters for High Court judges.
ASI gets notice
The same Bench ordered issue of notices to the State Government, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and other respondents on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition challenging the construction of a building in front of the famous Hoysaleshwara Temple at Halebid in Hassan district. The petitioners, Nanjundappa and others, said although they had represented to authorities action was not taken.
