eSeva centres ready to issue voter ID cards

HYDERABAD: All the eSeva Centres in the twin cities are now ready to take up issuance of Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and do necessary corrections provided some proof in the form of requisite documents are shown, District Election Officer and GHMC Special Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu has said.

Addressing a press conference along with Additional Commissioner (Planning) Neetu Prasad here on Friday, he said the remaining 1.12 lakh cards would be distributed by the month end through speed post.

Cards generated after January 22 too were being sent in a similar fashion.

While there was continuous update of electoral lists, the district election authorities were likely to include the names filed up to March 23 when the election notification would be issued, theDEO said.

Of the 1.95 lakh claims for inclusion received through various means like e-registration, designated centres, drop boxes, etc., 1.92 lakh had been verified and of them 1.43 lakh accepted.

Duplication

“We have realised that most of the claims have been duplicated as many had applied through different means,” he said.

The second supplementary voters’ lists would be published on April 5.
