Tiruvannamalai: The Collector’s “enquiry” with land owners in connection with land acquisition for the expansion of Cheyyar SIPCOT complex, which was slated for Monday, has been postponed. It will be held after the Lok Sabha elections.

A statement issued by Collector M. Rajendran said that following the order of the government to acquire 2,300.58 acres of land from 10 villages, including Mangaal in Cheyyar taluk, notices were served to land owners concerned under Section 3 (2) of the Tamil Nadu Acquisition of Land for Industrial Purposes Act, 1997 (TamilNadu Act 10/1999) asking them to appear for enquiry. Notices were served to land owners at Karanai, Chozhavaram and Perumpulimedu, asking them to appear for an enquiry on Monday. However, the enquiry had been postponed.
