World Wellness Women’s Congress gets under way

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The first World Wellness Women’s Congress, which got under way here on Friday, has an interesting array of panel discussions with experts from across the world speaking on various topics related to wellness of women and children.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who inaugurated the three-day event, called it a movement of awareness to spread the message that a healthy body ensures a healthy mind. “You represent your evolution and the expertise that you have to offer will emerge as an extraordinary experience and show how to evolve systems where you become your own healer. That is a very extraordinary effort,” she said. “Often our ego comes in the way of caring and sharing with others. A smile leaves one feeling elevated, wonderful, and alive,” she said.

“Look at the positive side of things, and make the best use of the once in a lifetime chance that we get to serve and enjoy this beautiful world of ours.” She recalled that the happiest days she would remember all her life was a trip to Europe with her late husband on a shoe-string budget.

Wellness experts Janet and Tom Wu of the United States and nutritionist Vijaya Venkat from India were honoured for their contribution to society with a certificate from the World Wellness Open University.

World Wellness Organisation founder P.I. Peter, World Noni Research Foundation chairperson Kirti Singh, and former director of the Central Bureau of Investigation D.R. Kaarthikeyan participated.
