KOCHI: The Oman-based Safety Technical Services Company Limited has opened a Safety Management College at Kanjoor in Ernakulam. The college will impart training in internationally certified courses in safety and allied subjects. Announcing the opening of the college at a press conference here, the company’s Managing Director and the institute Executive Manager Mohammed Ashraf, said the training courses were offered to the Plus-Two students. Those who complete the training would be able to join safety and technical services in India and abroad. Mr. Ashraf, a non-resident Keralite, said the company was helping the candidates in placements too. The courses pertain to fire fighting, underwater diving, accident investigation, forklift, crane, heavy equipment, scaffolding, maritime safety, welding fabrication, electrical safety, well testing, oil and gas storage and transportation, rig training, computer courses and instrumentation. The instructors have been trained by international organisations such as Bureau Veritas and Association of Risk Management. The parent organisation has been approved by the British Safety Council, the National Safety Council (USA), the Fire Protection Association (UK) and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. The company is providing training in fire and safety courses in West Asia.
