THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have registered a case against four persons in connection with an attack on the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Medical Trust Hospital and Maternity Home at Kodinada Junction, near Balaramapuram, in the early hours of Saturday. The police said four unidentified persons attacked the staff on duty at the casualty wing of the hospital at 1.30 a.m. The assailants, who arrived on two motorcycles, broke the glass panes of the reception counter and caused damage to the casualty wing and the pharmacy. They broke the windshield of an ambulance that was parked on the premises of the hospital. Sujith, pharmacist and a native of Perumpazhathoor, suffered grievous injuries in the attack. He was admitted to KIMS hospital in the city. Udayan, receptionist, and Rajan, security guard, were also injured. The police said a case had been registered against four persons in connection with the incident. The Indian Medical Association has demanded the arrest of those behind the attack on the KIMS Medical Trust Hospital and Maternity Home. IMA State president R. Ramesh and secretary J. Rajagopalan Nair, in a joint statement here, demanded stern punishment against those responsible for the attack on the hospital and the staff.
