Special Correspondent

The tariff has been cut to Rs 2 a unit up to 200 units and Rs 4 a unit above

HYDERABAD: The AP Electricity Regulatory Commission on Saturday issued power tariff orders for the next fiscal beginning April 1, reducing the power tariffs in places of worship.

The tariff rates for all categories of consumers in domestic, commercial and industrial sectors have been retained. The APERC also gave its approval for continuing free power supply to agriculture pumpsets.

In case of high-tension users like railways, the tariff has been reduced by 5 paise per unit.

Likewise, the tariff payable by horticulture nurseries and salt manufacturing units has been reduced to Rs 1 per unit.

In respect of places of worship, the tariff has been cut to Rs 2 a unit up to 200 units and Rs 4 a unit above.

The Commission also issued orders fixing rates for collection of wheeling charges by distribution companies from third parties having captive-generation units against use of transmission lines to transfer power generated.

The order specified the state load despatch centre (SLDC) charges payable by the distribution companies to the AP Transco for maintaining the SLDC at central level at Hyderabad to indicate the status of transmission and distribution of power in the State at any given point of time. The rates in both cases will be valid for five years.
