Congress MP Sajjan Kumar celebrates outside his residence along with his supporters after his candidacy was announced for the South Delhi seat, in New Delhi on Sunday. NEW DELHI: Following announcement of the names of six sitting Members of Parliament for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Delhi, all the Congress candidates got into the campaign mode on Sunday. The only constituency from where the party is still to announce its candidate is West Delhi. Party workers and supporters gathered outside the residence of the candidates in large numbers in the morning to congratulate them. Many carried garlands and posters, while other shouted full-throated slogans in their support. Long queues of vehicles carrying the party flags could be seen parked outside their residence. Buses, trucks and tempos were used to ferry supporters to their residence. A large number of workers gathered outside the Ashoka Road residence of Sajjan Kumar, the party candidate from South Delhi, in the afternoon creating a huge traffic snarl. On the road outside, people from the rural areas of the Capital attired in their traditional dress danced to the beat of drums while other distributed sweets. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumar appealed to the workers to sink their differences and work for the victory of the Congress candidates in the upcoming elections. Besides, his own South Delhi constituency, Mr. Kumar announced that he would also campaign in North-West and West Delhi constituencies which were part of his erstwhile Outer Delhi constituency prior to delimitation. Similar scenes were witnessed outside the residence of the other five party candidates. The Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier announced the names of all its seven candidates from Delhi. Delhi goes to the polls in the fourth phase on May 7.
