Two die as motorcycle collides with lorry

CHENNAI: Two youths who were returning home on a motorcycle early on Sunday were fatally knocked down when their vehicle collided with a concrete mixer lorry near SPIC building at Guindy.

The police identified the victims as V. Vikram (23) of Kamala Bai Street, T. Nagar, and S. Sekar (27), belonging to Hanumantha Nagar, Bangalore.

They were returning to Mr. Sekar’s room in Velachery, were thrown off their vehicle and had suffered head injury, resulting in instant death.

Mr. Sekar, the pillion rider, was working as a sound engineer in the Film and TV Institute at Tharamani. Mr. Vikram was working in a software company until last month.

The bodies were sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.

Guindy traffic investigation police have registered a case and are investigating.

The driver of the lorry, R. Elumalai (38), was arrested.
