SI suspended

THENI: Devaraj, Special Sub-Inspector attached to Kurangani Police Station, was placed under suspension on the charges of wanton negligence of duty. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dindigul Range) A. Amaresh Pujari issued the suspension order to him here on Monday. The SSI did not initiate any action in a case relating to theft of implements worth Rs.1.20 lakh in the farm owned by a retired Additional Superintendent of Police Sethuraman.
Despite repeated appeals by the former official to detect the case, the SSI delayed the investigation.
Having irked by his inaction, he petitioned to the DIG pleading action.
The DIG deputed Bodinayakkanur Deputy Superintendent of Police for an inquiry in this connection. Acting on his report, he suspended the SSI.
