CHENNAI: For the first time, a week-long specialised goalkeeper coaching course of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is being held here. Saudi Arabia’s Hamad Amer A Alyami, a member of the AFC’s elite panel of instructors is in charge of the course, which began on Monday and will continue till Saturday. In all, 25 veteran goalkeepers, including one woman goalkeeper, from various parts of the country are taking part in this course being held at the Nehru Stadium. This is the second major AFC programme being held here after the recent ‘B’ licence course. Trial gamesThe Tamil Nadu Football Association proposes to organise trial games to select players for the coaching camp to prepare the State team for the Santosh Trophy championship to be held in the State from May 24. The trials will be held from March 25 to 28 at the SDAT Nehru Park ground here for the camp to begin on April 5.
