Annamacharya Jayanthi celebrations scheduled on May 9 Over 600 musicians from across the country invited to participate TIRUMALA: The 506th death anniversary of saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya was observed at Narayanagiri Gardens in Tirumala. The processional deities of Lord Malayappa and his two divine consorts were taken in a grand procession to the venue - the Narayanagiri Gardens. Over 3,000 artists from the neighbouring States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka lead the grand procession singing various devotional songs in the praise of the Lord and reached the gardens. In his brief speech, Sri Karyam of the Ahobila Mutt spoke the established tradition between the Mutt and the hill temple while the artists rendered group rendition of various musical kritiks of the saint poet who composed over 32,000 songs in praise of Lord Venkateswara. Speaking on the occasion, TTD Chairman D.K. Adikesavulu said that elaborate arrangements were being made for the grand conduct of the Annamacharya Jayanthi celebrations scheduled on May 9. Over 600 musicians from different parts of the country were being invited to participate in the Nagara Sankeerthana to be organised as part of the Jayanthi celebrations. Later Adikesavulu and TTD Executive officer K.V. Ramanachary released musical calendar, Venkataramana - brought by Chennai-based Annamayya Vamseekula Seva Mandali Trust. Prominent among others who participated in the programme include TTD special officer A.V. Dharma Reddy, Director of Annamacharya project Medasani Mohan, Tirumala temple Deputy EO Siddiah and others.
