Special Correspondent

METTUR: Doctors and paramedical staff in Mettur Government Hospital struck work for few hours on Tuesday morning. They said that a gang barged into the hospital on Monday night and hurled abuses at them alleging that treatment was not given to three youth admitted to the Trauma Care Ward of the hospital.

According to senior doctors, three youths, who sustained injuries in a road accident, got admitted as in-patients in the trauma care ward of the hospital on Monday night. The doctor on night duty gave them the necessary treatment, it was claimed.

But a gang of 50 people barged into the hospital and started abusing the doctors and para medical staff on duty alleging that they were not providing the adequate treatment to the injured.

Senior doctors and revenue officials pacified them and asked them to resume work. The agitating hospital staff warned that they would be forced to resort to strike if the police failed to take action against the gang.
