Woman injured in fire

SALEM: A woman who sustained serious burns in a fire accident died at Salem Government Medical College Hospital on Monday. The police said Chitra (22) of Ilampillai was cooking in her house, when her sari caught fire. Neighbours rescued her and admitted her to the hospital with serious burns. She died at the hospital. A case was registered.

A cleaner was killed when a lorry hit him near Mettur on Monday.

The police said Rajendran (28) was standing near a factory, when the accident took place.

He died on the spot. A case was registered.

The police arrested three women on charges of selling illicit liquor near Mettur on Monday.

A team of personnel conducted raids in various parts of Kolathur and found three women selling illicit liquor. They were arrested and cases were registered against them.
