Police question man

ERODE: The Erode police are questioning a man, charged with murdering his 20-year-old wife.

The police said they were questioning S. Gowthaman, son of Shanmugam of Dharmaapuri, on suspicion of murdering his wife by poisoning.

The police said Gowthaman’s wife Gayathri died in July 2008 under suspicious circumstances.

Soon after her death, Gowthaman showed undue haste in disposing of the body, which raised suspicion in her adopted father Sivalingam, who lodged a complaint.

Following investigations, the police said they exhumed the body and sent parts of it for chemical analysis.

Based on the test report that Gayathri was poisoned to death, they were questioning the husband, the police added.
